School Library

Reading is essential for cognitive development, expanding vocabulary, and improving critical thinking skills. It stimulates imagination, fosters creativity, and helps build empathy by exposing readers to diverse perspectives. Regular reading enhances comprehension and communication, laying a strong foundation for academic success and lifelong learning.

Visiting the school library plays a crucial role in nurturing a love of reading. The library offers access to a wide variety of books, catering to different interests and reading levels, allowing students to explore topics they’re passionate about. This access and support inspire a habit of reading for pleasure, which can last a lifetime.

Library Information

Classes have a regular weekly booking to attend the library and can also book other sessions as required.

The length of borrowing time varies according to the category of borrower or type of item but is generally

  • Preschool to Year 5 – 2 weeks
  • Year 6 – 3 weeks

Books can be brought back to the library to extend the length of borrowing if not finished

Preschool and Foundation students borrow one book at a time, from Years 1 to 6 the number of books borrowed is set in consultation with the class teacher, most classes set this at 2 books per child.

Children are encouraged to keep their library books in a sturdy bag.  When they are not reading them, students are encouraged to keep the books in their school bag or a specified special place at home.

All books/resources need to be returned to the library in Week 8 Term 4 as we conduct a stocktake over the Christmas holidays

Unfortunately, students cannot borrow if they have any overdue books/items. Overdue notices are sent out to teachers once a week. If an item cannot be found an invoice will be issued to be paid at the Front Office.
